31 Trees Cut at Diane's Today!

The weather turned out to be favorable today to cut the trees in Diane's backyard. I think we cut 31. Okay, I think they cut 31. I wasn't able to show up until 11:00 and just hauled limbs to the fire. Oh, I did start the fire. Anyway, it was a good family fellowship and shows what can happen when we help each other with the big things. And, it was actually enjoyable in spite of the hard work. Diane, enjoy your new yard with sunlight, and some firewood next year. We had a good turn out with Charles, Galen, John, Keith, Larry, Llewel, Rusty and Shane.

In true Walters' style.... Two supervising, one watching and one working. That is the free-labor cardinal rule.

Larry on a call. Good to see him back at it after his hospital stay with his heart. Nothing like a good old tree cutting to get you back in the groove:-)

Charlie with his feet hurting like crazy and Larry's chasing a ringing cell phone.

Rusty and Llewel leading the charge!

Shane showing John and Charles how it's done.

Driving a VW to Texas from California...

Jonathan asked me to drive back a VW Beetle he bought for Molly as a surprise for he birthday and anniversary. It was a nice break but a long way alone. Thank goodness Apple invented the iPod. I left California Friday noon and arrived Sunday afternoon in The Woodlands. I stopped for a dinner and a breakfast with a couple former comrades along the way in the Phoenix / Scottsdale area.

Right before I got into Palm Dessert California I passed this wind-generation farm. If you look closely in the background, they just look like they go on forever. It was a pretty stunning sight for the first time. I'm not really sure how I feel about this clutter. Isn't it similar to billboards? In the middle of West Texas it seems okay to me, but along the side of the highway in California it appears a bit odd. Wonder how that passed muster with the politicos?

Molly's new 2007 VW Beetle. It'll be great until she has a second child. Oh well, they can worry about that then.

I didn't slow down much. This is the detail from my navigation system. The average moving speed was 66.1 mph and the top mph was 101. 1522 Miles in 23 hours. That's a long way in a bug.

This is on Highway 60 in Arizona between Scottsdale and I-10. There really isn't anything. I was happy to see these cacti. Lots of traffic as you can tell.

Self portrait, and a fine one it is too.... Me driving like crazy trying to get to trees. My head really isn't this big. It's the camera angle:-)

Jack Ensey Turns ONE!

Molly had Jack a little round cake of his own to tear into, and did he ever!

Before it was over with he was covered in cake. The funny thing is that all the clapping, cameras, flashes and laughter didn't deter him from eating cake. He takes after others on our family:-) Cake eating is a very strong gene.

Mik Mik and Jack at the house the week after his birthday. He is such a pleasant little guy.
