Short trip to Dana Point, California

This photo is looking North up the beach below the Ritz Carlton Hotel at Dana Point California. It was gorgeous. They were having a heat wave out there. They said the humidity was high and it was balmy. It never got over about 78 degrees at the coast and it was beautiful! It is amazing that people are surfing at 6:30 am every morning.

Mikki and me were out there for a Board meeting on Friday. We stayed over on Saturday to enjoy the art festival and a drive down to San Diego to visit the Hotel Coronado. Quite an old National Historic Landmark. San Diego is beautiful. But, be warned, the Interstate headed South is as crowded as if they were giving away money at the border down there. It is stop and go from Laguna Beach to San Diego. That's 50 miles or so. Amazing traffic for a Saturday morning. They don't seem to mind. I did.

Brody and Caroline come to stay a couple days...

Mikki and I kept Brody and Caroline while Amber and Bryan, Jonathan, Molly, Andy and Lauren went on a short trip this weekend. We had a lot of fun with the kids. We got them a sand box (aka: sand in a plastic swimming pool), swam,  played pool, the Pac Man game, and rode on the ClubCar. I think they had a good time. I know we did. Bless their hearts, Brody and Caroline both walked off into the yard from their sand box and got into fire ants. With the over abundance of rain here lately (not complaining) the ants are hideous. Mikki's quick use of Yarro (sp?), a small fragile fern plant in her herb garden, took the sting away almost instantly, and they were back in the sand box in minutes.

A most beautiful rose...

There's something about the color combination of these roses that make them beautiful. Click on the photo to enlarge and see the detail.

Home baked pie at Go Away Farm!

Diane made her pie crust from scratch. She used Grandaddy McCaghren's home made rolling pin.

Diane rolling the dough out for the pie crust

Diane and Mikki adding the meringue to the coconut cream pie. Actually, Diane was adding the meringue and Mikki was keeping me from coming around the island and testing things out.

Wow! There isn't anything better than a home made coconut cream pie.

Mr. Jack is growing up!

Mikki kept Jack in Boston while Molly and Jonathan took care of a business event. Jack was a hoot. We had a lot of fun having him there with us.

On Tuesday, Molly, Mikki, Jack and me took off up the coast to Diamondhead. We ate at a small place on the water called Barnacles. It was a typical New England seafood diner on the water. Delicious. Afterwards, we took this as we were walking back to our car.

And this is Jack in Salem, Mass at the Salem Witch Museum. He was dressed to the nines.

Jonathan and Jack at York Harbor Inn in York, Maine on July 4th, 2007. We all had lobster:-) Actually, we had lobster in a lot of different dishes.

Photos from flying

This photo was from halfway between Houston and Charlotte a couple weeks ago. Rough ride but beautiful clouds / sun.

This was when we were taking off from Cancun a few weeks ago. The captain came on the "PA" and said that he had approval to fly at 2,000 ft above the beach. And this was the view. Awesome!
