Brody & Caroline at their first day of school...really!

I'm struggling a bit with the fact that Brody and Caroline are old enough for pre-school. But like it or not, here we are...
Brody & Caroline at Conroe Christian School. They seemed to really enjoy the first day. Second day wasn't quite as exciting for Brody:-)
Check out these "pack packs"... Brody's looks like its as big as him. I like the bedroll.

Elbert Larry Walters – September 12, 2009

Elbert Larry Walters passed from this life today, Saturday, September 12 at 1:20 a.m. Larry was my big brother, a hero to me when I was young. After all, he was almost 19 years my senior and was a military man for many years of my young life. I remember so many things about Larry, but the biggest thing that sticks in my mind are the home comings when Larry would finally take a leave from his foreign service in the US Army. I was so proud of him. The other thing I remembered was that he went to work at the Texaco gas station that belonged to Melvin Kennedy every time he came home. He obviously was taught to work and loved to work. His career at Coastal Flow for the past years proves that point pretty well.
He passed today after a year long fight with cancer. I'm glad he doesn't have to suffer any more. He fought hard with all the Walters and McCaghren Scotch-Irish vigor he could muster. He will be missed terribly by his immediate family and the host of extended family and friends. His funeral is Monday, September 14, 2009 at the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas (on Highway 190). He will be laid to rest at Cemetery Hill, not far from Mom, Dad and Cline. The viewing will be at Cochran Sunday evening at 5:00 pm.
You were by far the brightest of this bunch. A genius who wasn't worried about proving it to anyone. Your sharp mind was with you until the end. A man with a full load of common sense. A man with a family that loved him and he them, even though he wasn't big on kissing and hugs. However, you knew that Larry liked and loved you even though he was a bit unorthodox in his presentation.
Bud, I miss you already!
Around the firepit at Go Away Farm... where you could find him during our family get-togethers unless it was time to eat.
Larry out at the firepit.
Two weeks ago Monday night at his home with all the brothers and sisters. I'm so glad we took the time to go visit all together. (click on the photo to see it in full size)

Up Early!

Last weekend, Mikki and I had the twins with us at the farm. One morning I got up early and they were awake and joined me out on the porch. I can't help but remember the photo of Molly and Brittany Macey on the porch on our first morning after acquiring the farm in 93'.

Summer reprieve in bubbles

MikMik had the idea to get Brody and Caroline some bubbles to play with out side. They blew bubbles until the yard was sticky... I'll have to say, it appeared to be worth every penny, just watching these two make bubbles and chase them. Even Louie and Cole got in on a little of the fun.
Brody ends up with a battery operated machine to blow bubbles...
What on earth are they going to think of next?
