Boy's & Girl's Club Farm Tour Visits Go Away Farm

This is Bill Hobson and Steve Nelson (neighbor) cooking the sausages from the Bellville Meat Market for the crowd who visited Saturday. We had somewhere around 200 it appeared come through the farm on the tour from all over the area. We had a large bus show up from Harris County with 30+ seniors on it. He actually drove it through the gate without a problem. I couldn't believe it when I saw it pull up. The folks who sponsor and support the Boy's and Girl's Club are all very nice people with very large hearts. The workers at the club were wonderful folks as well. We really enjoyed being a part of the event this year. Seeing the kids there made it all worth while.

My Goodness It Rained!

The storm yesterday brings a new meaning to "When It Rains It Pours!" And man, did it ever pour. We lost power about noon and didn't regain it until I hooked up the generator, which was about 7:00 p.m. We went from three feet lower than the pier to over the pier in about three hours. It was a sight to behold. The water in this photo is almost over the dam. The spillway handled it, but barely. I've never seen water in the pasture like this. It was like a thousand rivers.

Amazing amount of water. We think over 8 inches in about 3 hours.
The winds were in excess of 50 mph. We lost two more trees. But, we needed the water.
Check out the small pond flowing into the large pond.
This is the first time I've seen water breach the bridge. You can't believe the amount of water coming from Johnny Holmes' pasture and pond into our pond.

Easter Weekend 2009 at the farm with the grandkids

Mikki and I took the four grandkids to the farm Thursday night. The trip was a lot of fun:-) They hunted the same easter eggs hid and re-hid three or four times. They kept Mikki hopping. Caroline not sure whether she wanted her picture taken or not.

Mikki and Amber hid the eggs in the flower garden after making a clean sweep for snakes. Jack was hilarious. He stopped when he finished hunting eggs and ate the total amount of candy in one standing.
At church on Easter Sunday morning. Grey, Caroline, Jack and Brody. At the farm on the front porch. It just doesn't get much better than this!
